ERRATUM
ABSTRACTThe Journal has been notified by Dr. David Savitz of an error that has been discovered in the article by Dr. Anna E. Baron and himself in the May 1989 issue of the Journal, entitled "Estimating and Correcting for Confounder Misclassification" (Am J Epidemiol 1989;129:106271). In table 1, the "Bias" was calculated incorrectly. The formula in the footnote is accurate but the actual numbers in that column are in error due to the use of the wrong denominator. The pattern of bias is unchanged, but the absolute values are markedly increased. Dr. Savitz notes that the correct series of numbers under "Bias" in table 1 should have been as follows: For Simon et al., 0.04, 0.09, 0.15, 0.27, 0.86; for Hartge et al., 0.08, 0.20, 0.33, 0.71, 0.40; for Marrett et al. (males), 0.09, 0.12, 0.14, 0.19, 0.50; and for Marrett et al. (females), 0.15, 0.19, 0.24, 0.33, 0.18. Dr. Savitz adds that these revised data do not change any aspect of the interpretation of the paper.
